Statement of Education Goals and Personal Profile Essay Personally, I perceive education as the best tool and greatest dependable ally that could assist me in achieving my dreams and aspirations in life. Similar to that of the other students and individuals, I believe that having a sturdy and formal education would enormously help me pursue my goal of further strengthening a sound career in the field of Pharmaceutical industry. Hence, I believe that acquiring a decent doctor of pharmacy degree would further stimulate and strengthen the possibility to attain everything that I wish for, especially in terms of educational and professional goals. More than anything else, I decided to pursue a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy mainly because I believe that I got what takes to be a good Pharmacist or a major practitioner in this type of healthcare service. I am well determined to learn and always inclined to excel in all the things that I do. More so, I wanted to pursue a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy in order to perform a more vital and helpful role in the process of healthcare service by having greater knowledge with regard to Pharmacy. Being in service for the people has always been my passion and my personal comfort zone. As time passes by, helping people and doing meaningful job has been a wonderful source of happiness and fulfillment for me, personally. Hence, I believe that pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy would further assist and equip me to continuously give sensible service for the people in the area of pharmacy. Given that the practice of pharmacy has become more complicated nowadays, acquiring a higher degree in the said field of study would enable me to effectively respond and attend on the challenges in the practice of pharmacy. Thus, I primarily decided to pursue a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy to further educate myself and to be able to meet the modern and growing demands in this line of work. Furthermore, I decided to have a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in order to uplift my confidence and credibility in this line of work. Without any doubt, this would definitely help me to be more self-assured in giving meaningful and obliging recommendations for other healthcare professionals and patients. Nonetheless, the decision to pursue a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy is made through my dedication in the said field and my desire to take part in a more advance role in the practice of pharmacy. This is in order to ensure that I could have a better future and greater position to render service for the people as well as continuously improve on the job that I loved. Apart from obtaining Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy, my other goal is to become the best father that I could be for my two young children and a great husband. In this precious life of mine, they serve as the fountain of happiness and motivation that energize me to bravely face the challenges of life. Though I would be very busy doing work and studying at the same time, I plan to achieve this goal by orderly and responsibly managing my time in such a way that I could still have quality time with my family. I value my family like the way I give importance to my own personal life. This is mainly because they are always there for me no matter what the situation is. My family never fails to give the love and care that I need, more especially during the most challenging moments and the darkest hour of my life. I love them as much as they love me and I would take care of them in the most positive way I could. Compounding and making total parental nutrition are the areas that capture my interest in the practice of pharmacy. These are not readily available to use. It has to be made on the individual needs of patients and requires a lot of calculations. This mainly interests me because I like doing calculation and being very precise. As an individual, I would describe myself as a family oriented and loving person. I give great value to life and render huge respect to other people and every being in this world. As a friend, I would say that I am the type of person who is trustworthy and loyal. I am the right individual whom my family and friends can depend-on, more especially during the most crucial and challenging moments. Personally, I am the type of person who is a bit shy, but not necessarily unconfident. I wish to be more outspoken and I believe I could do that by being true to myself and genuine to other people. Though I got enough self confidence, I know I still have to be more at-ease and self-assured in public speaking. On the other hand, I consider that my determination and work ethic are the strongest aspects of my personality. I am the type of individual who is dedicated and passionate to always do my best in order to exceed the level of expectation in everything that I do. Given a chance to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, I plan to further help and assist the people whom I vowed to serve in this line of work. The Cold War and Red Scare in Washington: Historical Context The Cold War created many aspects of modern Washington. Military spending sustained Washington's rapid economic growth after WW II. Although federal hydropower projects and WW II had initially industrialized Washington state, the struggle against the Soviets ensured that federal money continued to pour into the state. The Cold War left a physical legacy across the state that can still be seen today. Military bases were created and expanded. The production of plutonium at Hanford created radioactive waste that will exist for thousands of years. Upon reading Herculine Barbin, it helped me understand the difficulties in which Herculine had, living as a hermaphrodite living in his century, as it is still very difficult to lead such a life now. However, many parts of the reading were ambiguous because she never exactly mentions the condition of her body or what kind of sickness she is exactly suffering from. Although she always mentions the fact that she is suffering and in a great deal of pain, she only goes as far to describe the way she looks from the outside and how the others perceive her sickness. In the beginning of the novel, I can’t help but be confused about Herculine’s sexual identity. She describes herself as being born in a hospital that treats for â€Å"sick people of both sexes,† but it seems though, for the time being, she is going to be living on as a female. However, advancing into the story, we see the sorts of intimacy she gets into as she declares her love for other girls. This is another way to show the reader of the uncertainty in the identification of her gender. I loved her at first sight, and though her outward appearance had nothing about it that was dazzling, it was irresistibly attractive because of the modest grace that was shed over her entire person. † This quote represents a bit of masculinity yet also the femininity that was present within Herculine. Herculine seemed to be warm around other girls and woman, like any other female, but there was a certain different intimacy. She had grown up with women and it had taught her to be feminine and loving. However, because women surround her, it allowed her to explore her sexuality and employ it as much as possible. We can see uncertainty of gender arising here. Another uncertainty we see is the intelligence that is present in Herculine. She is described as being the smartest and as being very studious. Some of her traits do make it seem as though she was born to be a male. Although her birth did decide Herculine’s gender, it does not decide her true identity. There is a mistaken belief for her gender and there is not an exact way to identify Herculine’s true gender. Herculine always feels guilty about what she is doing, whether it may be falling in love with Sara or feeling sick. She has to be self-conscious about what she does because it can ruin her reputation. She had to hide her identity in order to get what she wanted. As a child, Herculine had a small problem growing up with all girls, because she felt a different intimacy with a girl names Lea, and that is where it all had started. Herculine was unable to control her desires later on, especially with Madame P’s daughter, Sara. Their relationship was so intimate that it was becoming painful for Herculine. Herculine was unsure if the identity she was carrying was right or if she needed a change. But she knew that no one was to know about the change because it would condemn her from society and shun anyone around her. She could not just be considerate of herself but needed to think about everyone else around her, especially those who were offering and giving help to her. She possesses shame toward her body and its undergoing changes. When her body starts to grow hair, she tries to hide it and when she realizes she is becoming more masculine, she feels uncomfortable with the transformation. Her refusal to show off her body to the doctor shows us that she does regret and dislike the changes that are going on in her body. It shows off her feminine side. Although Herculine was hurting from the bodily changes, she tries to hide all of these factors because she indeed wants to stay a woman. She feels awkward in society and does not have the problem with the way she was living then. She believed that she was born to love but her identity change later on in the story was forcing her to love like a man. Many times in the reading, Herculine relies on religion to get her through the sufferings. She is very pious and tries to fit into society and uses religion to relieve herself of the outside world. She feels guilty toward the world with regards to what is happening to herself. She wants acceptance or change but at the same time she also wants answers. When she confesses for the first time, she is shocked to find the priest, Abbe H, who is very close and associated with Madame P’s family, throwing insults and terrifying words at her. That was the deciding factor that leads her to secrecy and more uncertainty over her body. However, later she finds people who encourage her and aid her with her disease. One specific person would be Monsieur de Saint M. He is the one who urges her to go off and tells her the instructions as to what to do in order to cure of her disease. Never does he once put her down. He treats Herculine like his own and on his deathbed, Monsieur de Saint M is proud of Herculine and Herculine seems to be thankful toward him. He was like a father figure to her and he led her to live more true to her self. However, even after she undergoes a change to her body, Barbin undergoes obstacles to try to fit in with her new identity and body. To his dismay, the surroundings and people around Herculine look down at her and with disgust. Herculine is unable to find and job and therefore looks for an escape, and that is to the United States. Society was very stereotypical, because of the fact that although Herculine was now a man, she did not seem or acted like one. However, Herculine himself, or rather herself, did not seem satisfied with the new identity and was miserable. This leads to suicide later on. Herculine had to cut her own life due to societal torments. She had to leave her real identity behind and it was the cause of her misery. Herculine was never comfortable living in her society as a hermaphrodite because never in her life did she feel normal and comfortable with herself.

It is very common that we will read a book then go to the theater to see its movie parallel just to find they are totally different. Mary Shelley’s book Frankenstein has been made into three movies which all have their similarities and differences than the book. Although the topic of creating new life is represented in all of the movies other major points of the book are left out or changed. Even though all the movies differ from the book I have noticed that the movies grow closer and closer to the book as the years go by in which they were made. The 1935 movie The Man Who Made a Monster by James Whale had the same main idea with Frankenstein creating like, but besides that it was different in many ways. In the movie Frankenstein did not have much of a story as to why he wanted to create life, where as in the book we know he was upset about his mother’s death. A character named Fritz was Frankenstein’s assistant and only the creature’s first victim ev en though his character was not in the book at all. In this movie the creature does not have much of a character besides the monster killing people and crashing weddings.
